Live Tracking Made Waiting at EP Express Station Spain Easier
Europa-Park made the EP-Express trains visible live in a hotel app. That allowed visitors at stations such as Spain to see where the monorail was and better judge how long they still had to wait.
More context
Europa-Park introduced a practical improvement in 2019 for guests using the EP-Express. The monorail trains could be followed live through the free Europa-Park Hotels app, allowing visitors to see the vehicles' current position on their phones. That also mattered for the station in the Spanish themed area, one of the stops on the route.
At the time, the feature was not yet part of the regular park app. Visitors did not need to be hotel guests to use the hotel app, however. According to Looopings, the trains had been fitted with special radar, making their live location visible. For anyone waiting at Station Spain, this made the experience less uncertain: guests could rely not only on the idea of a service pattern, but also on the train's actual position.
The update also put the EP-Express back in the spotlight after a difficult period. In 2018 two monorail vehicles collided and two people were injured. The app feature therefore sits within the wider story of a transport system that has operated at Europa-Park since 1995 and remains a familiar link between themed areas and hotels.
