On 29 March 2026, Looopings reported that Alton Towers had opened the world's first Bluey attraction. Bluey the Ride: Here Come The Grannies began operating the previous day in CBeebies Land. For the British resort, this was more than another children's coaster: it was a high-profile first for a globally recognised preschool brand. The junior coaster was built by German manufacturer Zierer and is aimed squarely at young guests. The story centres on Bluey and Bingo as the grannies Janet and Rita, causing mischief in the backyard. That story starts before the ride itself, as guests pass through an interactive queue themed around Bluey's house, with play elements and photo moments. Alton Towers supported the opening with more Bluey entertainment, including a show and meet-and-greets. In the evening, a drone show displayed logos for the ride, the park and CBeebies Land. For fans and young families, the launch therefore felt bigger than the debut of a small junior coaster. It was a deliberate move to refresh CBeebies Land with a current, highly recognisable family franchise and to give younger visitors a new headline reason to visit Alton Towers.

In September 2025, Alton Towers revealed what it was preparing for CBeebies Land: a roller coaster themed to Bluey. The British resort was not simply adding another meet-and-greet or stage moment, but turning one of the strongest children's brands of the moment into a proper ride for young families. According to Looopings, the first design showed a modest green-and-yellow coaster. The opening was planned for 2026, giving children and parents their first chance to ride the following season. The announcement stood out in Alton Towers history. The park had not built a new roller coaster since Wicker Man in 2018, so the Bluey project attracted attention as the resort's eleventh coaster. CBeebies Land already had Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure, but Bluey brought a much more current television property into the area. Looopings also placed the decision within the wider rise of the Australian animated series, which had become a global preschool hit since 2018. For visitors, the news meant CBeebies Land was getting a new family draw: recognisable for children, approachable for parents and important for a park eager to show fresh investment in its youngest guests.
