After the Dutch autumn holiday: when do theme parks get quieter?

The Dutch autumn holiday in 2026 is not one national week. The ministry publishes recommended dates, and a school may choose others. The north ran from 10 through 18 October. The centre and the south run from 17 through 25 October. When this guide goes live, 24 and 25 October are still holiday for many schools in the centre and south. Monday 26 October is a school day again there.

That is when people search for a quieter theme park. This page does not print a calendar of fixed percentages. A closure, a sunny Sunday or a short opening day changes the queue. What does hold: holiday dates and weekends draw more families than a Tuesday in a school week. Whether that is true on your date is on the live page and the crowd calendar.

What you can plan

1. Check whether the park is open that day. October and November hours differ from summer. The opening-hours page belongs to your date.
2. Then open the live wait times. An empty board at 10:30 says nothing about 14:00, but it is the only queue you actually have.
3. Use the planning tips when enough days have been measured. W8baan does not state a firm comparison when the history is too thin. If a pattern is shown, the period is shown with it.

Parks to put side by side

Winter Efteling starts on Monday 16 November 2026 and runs through 31 January 2027. That is a new season, not automatically a quiet day. Efteling says the outdoor coasters run when the weather allows. Until 16 November, the school weeks of late October and early November are the window people hope for. Check it per day.

For September we already wrote which parks were open in September. November needs the same habit: date, hours, then the queue.
