Single rider at Efteling: when is it worth using?

Riding alone can be useful, but a shorter queue does not always mean a shorter wait. Here is how to choose between single rider and the regular queue at Efteling.

Single rider at Efteling is a separate queue for visitors who ride individually and fill spare seats. It may get you on sooner, but saving time is not guaranteed. If you want to sit with your partner, child or friends, choose the regular queue.

Start with a simple question: do we want to experience this ride together? That matters more than which line looks shorter. Here is how to make your choice and check the situation on the day.

Which Efteling rides have single rider?

The text of Efteling’s official guide names Danse Macabre, Python, Symbolica, Max & Moritz and Joris en de Draak. Having a single rider entrance does not mean it will be open all day.

Check Baron 1898 separately: the same official page includes Baron among its attraction cards but leaves it out of the written list. Ask at the entrance whether single rider is available. For other rides too, avoid relying solely on an old list or a previous visit.

Single riders at Symbolica cannot choose their palace tour. Children must meet the requirements for riding without an accompanying person. The linked official page explains these rules. Information checked on 28 September 2026.

Why is single rider not always faster?

This queue advances as spare seats become available after regular-queue guests have been seated. A short line can therefore move slowly. From the entrance, you cannot see how many individual seats the next few departures will leave empty.

Consider an example: the regular queue shows 25 minutes and single rider shows 20. These are illustrative numbers, not measurements or a forecast. You might decide that riding together matters more than a possible five-minute saving. A larger difference could change your decision.

Only compare times clearly displayed for the relevant queue. A general waiting time for an attraction is not automatically its single rider waiting time.

Which queue suits your visit?

  • Visiting alone: check which entrances are open and the waiting time shown for each.
  • Your friends want the same ride: agree beforehand whether riding separately is fine and choose a meeting point afterwards.
  • Your child’s first roller coaster: sharing that moment may matter more than saving time.
  • You want a ride photo together: take that into account when choosing the regular queue.
  • The signs are unclear: ask a member of staff before joining.

Do not make single rider the goal of your day. If reaching it means crossing the whole park, include that walking time in your decision. A nearby ride might fit your plans better.

Use current waiting times to plan your next stop

Check Efteling waiting times before walking to your next attraction. Note the ride status and when the information was recorded. On arrival, check the sign for the queue you intend to join. The official Efteling queue guide also explains how to use the park app for current waiting times.

Build a short favourites list with our guide to Efteling’s roller coasters, then use the Efteling park page for the wider overview. Keep your route focused on experiences you want, rather than just the lowest numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can a group join single rider?

Yes, but expect separate seats or departures. Joining together does not mean you will sit together.

Can children use single rider?

Only if they meet the requirements for riding independently. Check the individual attraction’s rules and ask staff if unsure.

How many minutes will you save?

There is no fixed saving. Decide using the situation at the entrance and how much riding together matters to you.
