Search Efteling roller coasters or Baron 1898 and you often get a dark ride or a boat mixed in. Efteling in Kaatsheuvel has six real coasters. Danse Macabre is not one of them: the ride spins, but it does not run on rails.

That height gap decides the day. A child at 115 cm can ride Max & Moritz and Joris, often misses Python and Vogel Rok, and never boards Baron 1898. That is why Baron 1898 minimum height matters: 132 cm, the strictest pole of the six.
Baron 1898, Python or Joris?
The choice between Baron 1898, Python and Joris en de Draak depends on the ride type: dive, inversions or wood.
Baron 1898 is Ruigrijk’s dive: 30 metres, 90 km/h, inversion, mine shaft. On busy days this is the queue the rest of Ruigrijk turns around. Start here only if the live waits allow it.
Python is the looping classic: 29 metres, 75 km/h, 120 cm. Since 2018 a new Vekoma layout on the same spot. Want inversions without Baron’s drop? This is the one.
Joris en de Draak is the wooden race: Water versus Fire, 22 metres, 75 km/h, from 110 cm. No inversions. It is the ride more of the group can join while Baron fills up.
Short advice: want the dive, start at Baron — but check the queues first. If Baron is already high and Python or Joris is not, swap the order. Want inversions without a free fall, Python is the logical second. Want wood and a race, Joris finishes Ruigrijk. Do not stack all three in the same hour. Vogel Rok, Max & Moritz and De Vliegende Hollander
Vogel Rok sits in Reizenrijk, not Ruigrijk. Indoor, dark, 20 metres, 65 km/h, 120 cm. Rain or heat plan: go here. It is the coaster you skip if you spend the whole day in Ruigrijk.
Max & Moritz is the family coaster in Anderrijk: powered, two trains, 6 metres, 36 km/h, from 90 cm. Not a must for thrill-seekers. It is the ride that lets a small child do a real coaster.
De Vliegende Hollander is a water coaster: ghost ship first, rails second, 22.5 metres, 70 km/h, 120 cm. Wet. Count it as a coaster, plan it as water. Same question, different angle: the Efteling boats guide. Piraña is rapids, not a coaster.

- Check live, not memory. Open the Efteling live wait times before you lock a route.
- Height first, taste second. Under 120 cm, Python, Vogel Rok and De Vliegende Hollander are out; under 132 cm, Baron 1898 too.
- Baron, Python and Joris sit together in Ruigrijk. Those three queues decide a thrill day.
- Vogel Rok is the indoor option, not the extra after three Ruigrijk rides when legs are gone.
- Water is a separate Efteling question. De Vliegende Hollander counts as coaster and boat; Piraña is the rapids.
