New designs for Walibi roller coaster in France
Walibi Rhône-Alpes showed new designs for Mystic and also confirmed that drop tower SkunX Tower would be renamed and rethemed as Le Totem from 2019.
More context
At the end of 2018, Walibi Rhône-Alpes offered a clearer look at its plans for the 2019 season. Most of the attention went to Mystic, the new Gerstlauer infinity coaster, but the same announcement also marked an important turn for Le Totem: the existing drop tower SkunX Tower would receive a new name and a new theme.
From the following season, the tower would continue as Le Totem. That change removed another visible trace of the former SkunX style and brought the attraction into the park's wider renewal of Festival City. The area was also due to receive the teacups ride Les Chaudrons, while Mystic, with its vertical lift and unusual layout, was set to become the headline addition.
For visitors, the change meant that a familiar thrill ride was not simply left behind as a remnant of an older phase. It was folded into the direction Walibi Rhône-Alpes chose around its fortieth anniversary. Le Totem gained a clearer role in the refreshed park experience, alongside a series of investments intended to make the French Walibi park stand out more strongly within the Compagnie des Alpes group.
