In January 2024, Looopings showed how Toverland used its short winter break for intensive maintenance. The park was closed to guests for only four weeks, so work had to be tightly planned. Not every project would be finished by the general reopening on 10 February.

For Tolly Molly, that winter break meant a major overhaul. While Djengu River’s water channel stood dry and the station conveyor belt was being replaced, the boat carousel nearby received attention of its own. Several Tolly Molly parts were taken to an external location to be blasted and recoated. The park aimed to reopen the ride on Saturday 9 March.

For visitors, the news was practical: Tolly Molly would remain missing for a while even after Toverland reopened. For the attraction’s history, the maintenance is more meaningful than a routine closure notice. It shows that even a calm water carousel needs periodic technical and cosmetic care. In a park that increasingly wants to open outside the traditional winter season, this kind of planning becomes more visible to fans and returning guests.

On 16 June 2022, there was quick clarity about Tolly Molly’s status. Looopings reported that the boat carousel was operational again after a five-year-old boy had been injured two days earlier. The ride had remained out of service for the rest of the incident day, but guests were able to ride again from Wednesday.

Toverland stressed that no modifications were needed before reopening Tolly Molly. After the accident, the park had contacted the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, the body responsible for attraction safety. According to the spokesperson, the park and authority concluded that the incident was an unfortunate human mistake and that no technical fault had been found in the attraction.

That made the reopening more than a simple operating update. For visitors and fans, it showed that Tolly Molly would not remain closed for long and that the park had formally discussed safety with the competent authority. At the same time, the incident was not treated as finished without reflection: Toverland said it would look at possible improvements with inspection bodies to prevent similar situations in the future.

On 14 June 2022, Tolly Molly suddenly became the focus of a serious incident at Toverland. According to Looopings, a five-year-old boy stepped out of the boat carousel while the water ride was still operating. A staff member activated the emergency stop, brought the child to safety and called the emergency services.

The incident quickly became more serious when a trauma helicopter was called at around 15:30. Police and ambulances also arrived at the park. The child was eventually taken to hospital urgently by ambulance. Toverland did not share further details about his condition for privacy reasons, but said it hoped he was doing as well as circumstances allowed.

For guests, the effect was immediate: Tolly Molly, part of Magische Vallei, remained closed for at least the rest of the day. The news shows that even a calm family ride can become vulnerable when a guest acts unexpectedly during the cycle. In Tolly Molly’s history, this stands out as an important safety moment precisely because the attraction is normally known as gentle, accessible and child-friendly.
