Little Dragons

On 1 July 2023, Toverland reopened the renewed Avalon and made clear how Little Dragons fitted into the expansion. The park’s management said the original 2018 version of Avalon was beautiful, but lacked enough movement, activity and reasons to stay longer. The area therefore had to grow, become more colourful and hold visitors for more time. Alongside four mechanical rides, Toverland invested in new experiences such as Sparky's Splash Dock, Waterdwarf Alley and the toddler playground Little Dragons. That mix made the expansion interesting: not only thrill seekers or school-age children received something new, but also families with very young children. Little Dragons gives Avalon a softer counterpart to the larger rides and matches the more cartoon-like direction built around Sparky the dragon and Juna the unicorn. For visitors, it means better distribution across the area and a place where parents with babies and toddlers can pause without leaving Avalon.

In February 2023, Toverland visitors received a practical first look at the renewed Avalon area. The new park map already showed the additions that were due to open later that year, including the toddler playground Little Dragons. The attractions were still under construction and covered on the map by white clouds, but their position in the land was clear. For Little Dragons, that meant the playground was not presented as a minor extra, but as part of the full reshaping around The Flaming Feather, Garden Tour and the other new Avalon experiences. The map also confirmed that Arthur's Tournament Training would be moved, while dragons, a large magic clock and several new experiences would give the area more life. For visitors, the map made the plans more tangible: by mid-2023, Avalon would not only be larger, but better spread across ages and types of play.

In February 2023, Toverland made clear that the Avalon expansion was not only about new rides. With Little Dragons, the park presented a partly covered toddler playground for children aged 0 to 3, located between restaurant The Flaming Feather and the new Garden Tour ride. It was a small addition in square metres, but an important choice for families: even the youngest guests would get their own place inside the medieval themed area. Toverland described the concept as a safe dragon nest, with a soft climbing house, climbing rock, play panels, a small slide and dragon eggs that children can crawl into. Gates were planned to keep children from wandering away. Arthur's Tournament Training would not disappear either; its existing play equipment would be moved and refurbished. Little Dragons showed how Avalon was meant to become broader, warmer and more useful for families.
