English theme park announces renewed themed area: Big Easy Boulevard
Thorpe Park presented Big Easy Boulevard, a New Orleans-inspired area designed for 2024 to improve the transition around Nemesis Inferno. The project gave the coaster's surroundings a clearer role in the park experience.
More context
In November 2023, Thorpe Park announced that Angry Birds Land would be replaced by Big Easy Boulevard. Designed by Imaginize, the new area was given a colourful New Orleans mood and was planned to open in spring 2024. For Nemesis Inferno, the key point was its location: the park specifically named the coaster as one of the anchors the redesigned area needed to connect with more smoothly.
The change was not about altering the ride itself, but about improving the route and atmosphere around it. Thorpe Park wanted better transitions between Amity Cove, Amity Speedway and Nemesis Inferno. Big Easy Boulevard would include a rethemed Detonator, dodgems, a 4D cinema and a sweet shop. That turned the space near the coaster from a fading IP zone into a broader themed street with its own identity.
For guests, this meant the approach to Nemesis Inferno would feel less detached from the neighbouring areas. For fans, the story matters because major coasters are remembered not only for their layouts, but also for the setting that builds anticipation before the ride.
