In May 2026 Looopings reported that Vekoma and PortAventura World were starting a new company for virtual experiences: WeRiseUp. The initiative grew out of Adventure Labs, PortAventura's digital innovation branch, which had already been adding mixed-reality layers to attractions and themed areas inside the resort. El Diablo Neo, the mixed-reality version of El Diablo - Tren de la Mina, was specifically mentioned as one of the existing experiences that would remain active in the park.
The partnership shows that the digital overlay on El Diablo was not treated as a one-off novelty. PortAventura stayed involved as both partner and customer, and the resort in Salou would continue to serve as a testing ground for new concepts. WeRiseUp aims at theme parks, but also at museums, heritage locations and other visitor attractions.
For fans, the news gives El Diablo a wider role in PortAventura's innovation story. The 1995 mine train became more than an older family coaster with an optional paid headset. It became a reference point for a broader mixed-reality strategy that PortAventura and Vekoma want to develop beyond one park.
