On Boxing Day 2025, Plopsaland showed how vulnerable its outdoor ride offer can be in winter cold. Around freezing point, many outdoor attractions stayed closed, from major roller coasters and water rides to surprisingly simple rides. Wickie The Battle was also listed as unavailable, alongside Anubis, Heidi The Ride, DinoSplash, SuperSplash and The Ride to Happiness. For guests, the situation was especially frustrating because a day ticket cost 51 euros and the park did not offer compensation or a reduced price. Later in the afternoon, several attractions briefly reopened, but some closed again before the end of the day. Plopsaland pointed out that indoor rides, shows, meet-and-greets and a parade were still available, while also acknowledging that it would internally review whether extra measures were needed to make attractions more resistant to cold conditions. For Wickie The Battle, the story fits a wider pattern: the water ride belongs to a park that wants to operate for more of the year, yet winter weather remains a tough test for technology, scheduling and guest expectations.

In late December 2024, Plopsaland faced a winter day on which the available ride offer was visibly under pressure. With temperatures only 1 degree above freezing, eleven attractions were out of use. Wickie The Battle also stood out in the list, although for a different reason: according to Looopings, the splash battle was under maintenance. SuperSplash was open, so the situation was not simply a case of all water rides closing because of the cold. For guests, the impact remained significant. A day ticket cost 48.50 euros and the park did not reduce the price, even though several crowd-pullers were unavailable. Plopsaland stressed that guests pay for access to the park as a whole rather than per attraction, and pointed to indoor rides, children's attractions and entertainment that continued to operate. The ride belongs to a park that increasingly presents itself as a year-round destination, but maintenance and cold weather can still shape the visitor experience on busy holiday dates.

In spring 2023, Plopsaland came under criticism for restricted ride operating hours on quiet days. During an episode of Themepark Late Night, presenters Myrthe Veth and Emile Vierus argued that guests expected a full park day, while several major attractions only started later. Wickie The Battle was named directly: like The Ride to Happiness and Anubis, the water ride often did not open until around 12:30. Other rides sometimes followed even later. The sensitive point for visitors was the lack of clear advance warning. Guests buying a ticket for a day from 10:30 to 17:30 only discovered inside the park that not everything was available from opening time. Plopsa responded that operating hours depended on weather and expected attendance, and that guests could still experience every attraction several times when conditions allowed. For Wickie The Battle, the debate underlined that availability matters as much as ride hardware. A family water attraction can remain attractive, but unclear scheduling quickly turns into frustration for guests planning their day.
