DinoSplash opens after full renewal of the former Donnerfluss
Holiday Park opened the renewed DinoSplash rapid river in 2020. The former Donnerfluss from 1984 received a dinosaur theme after a major winter refurbishment, with rocks, skeletons, a misty cave and roaring dinosaurs.

Holiday Park opened its renewed DinoSplash rapid river to visitors in June 2020. The project gave the old Donnerfluss, a 1984 rapid river, a second life inside the German Plopsa park. The ride had been completely refreshed during the winter and returned with a new prehistoric storyline.
The change went far beyond a new name. During the trip, riders pass large rock formations, skeletons, a misty cave and roaring dinosaurs. The dinosaurs were supplied by Themebuilders from the Philippines. The surrounding area was also reworked: the queue was rebuilt with botanical greenhouses and exotic planting, while cheerful classical music plays in the background.
For visitors, the opening mattered because an older water ride was not removed but rebuilt into a more complete experience. DinoSplash gave Holiday Park a major family-friendly water attraction and fitted Plopsa's strategy of giving existing rides stronger stories and more recognisable theming.
The conversion also formed part of a wider investment programme. Plopsa planned to spend millions of euros at Holiday Park, including new Wickie the Viking attractions and early plans for a themed hotel. DinoSplash showed that the renewal was not only about new construction, but also about giving established park classics a fresh role.
