French theme park replaces old monorail with attraction in new theme
Nigloland opened L'Envol des Papillons, a butterfly-themed monorail replacing the old Les Dragons Volants from 1996. The new ride brings higher capacity, extensive decoration and a place in the La Forêt de Niglo themed area.
More context
Nigloland opened a new family attraction in late June 2024 with a clear role in the park: L'Envol des Papillons replaced the old Les Dragons Volants monorail. That earlier ride dated from 1996 and operated for the last time in 2023. The new attraction keeps the idea of a gentle elevated tour, but refreshes it with a butterfly theme.
Looopings reported that Nigloland used the rebuild to increase capacity and add a large amount of new decoration. A video also showed the design and construction process, giving fans a look at how the attraction came together. L'Envol des Papillons forms part of La Forêt de Niglo, a new themed area that also includes Zabeilles, Les Hérissons de la Forêt Magique and Noisette Express.
For visitors, the opening means an ageing monorail was not simply removed, but brought back as a better integrated family ride. The investment also fits Nigloland's wider growth plans. The park wants to move from around 700,000 annual guests towards one million, with new accommodation planned for 2025 and a new roller coaster for 2026.
