British Legoland previews its new attractions
Shortly before opening, Legoland Windsor previewed the nearly finished Lego Mythica area. Flight of The Sky Lion was presented as Great Britain's first flying theater and the new area's main draw.
More context
In April 2021, Legoland Windsor offered a concrete preview of Lego Mythica shortly before the new area was due to open at the end of May. That finally gave Flight of The Sky Lion a clear public identity. The park presented the ride as Great Britain's first flying theater: a family simulator in which guests fly through fantastic landscapes and encounter the characters of the Mythica world. For a Legoland park, that was a notable move, as this ride type is usually associated with major international parks and significant investment. Around the headline attraction, Windsor built a full land with two 13-metre drop towers, the rethemed surf ride Hydra's Challenge, huge Lego sculptures, a build area for original creatures, Lava Dragon Play, Creature Encounter and new food outlets. The timing added context: English theme parks had reopened on 12 April, but indoor attractions still had to stay closed until 17 May under COVID rules. Flight of The Sky Lion therefore became more than a new ride; it stood for reopening, investment and a fresh chapter for Legoland Windsor.
