German theme park keeps two attractions closed until further notice
In 2022, Heide Park kept both MAGIC and BIG LOOP closed because of technical issues and unavailable parts. Visitors therefore lost access to both a classic Huss ride and the Vekoma looping coaster.
More context
In June 2022, Heide Park had to explain why two well-known attractions were unavailable. The situation at MAGIC was the most final: the ride's restraints needed replacing, but the required parts could not be delivered in time because of long lead times. As a result, the 1991 Huss attraction would remain closed for the entire season.
BIG LOOP was also standing idle. The 30-metre Vekoma looping coaster from 1983 stayed closed until further notice after a technical issue had been identified. According to the park, work was being carried out on both trains. That detail matters, because on an older roller coaster the trains strongly determine ride comfort, capacity and the reliability of daily operations.
For visitors, the double closure removed two very different classics from the line-up: a spinning family ride with suspended gondolas and a recognisable steel looping coaster. The story shows how vulnerable older park hardware can become when parts are scarce or technical checks create extra work. Heide Park chose not to operate the rides while the safety systems and trains still needed attention.
