Grottenblitz made the news in July 2024 in a rather unusual way. At Heide Park's electrically powered coaster, a large round elephant plush ended up on the track. Staff did not stop the ride, and when the train slowly entered the station, the toy was gradually run over by the locomotive.
The footage, recorded by fan page PlanIt Park, quickly spread on TikTok before being picked up by Looopings. The incident was striking more than serious: no one was injured, but the plush did not survive the encounter well. Why an emergency stop was not used remained unclear.
For visitors, the story served as a plain reminder that loose items need to be secured even on family coasters. Grottenblitz is not an extreme thrill ride, but a powered coaster whose train is continuously driven around the track and reaches a top speed of 45 kilometres per hour.
