Jumanji The Labyrinth

With the opening of Jumanji - The Labyrinth, Gardaland gained its second fully realised Jumanji experience. While Jumanji - The Adventure sends guests through the jungle in a dark ride vehicle, the maze uses a different rhythm: walking, searching and exploring the setting yourself. The attraction was presented as a walkthrough with special effects. Visitors encounter a rotating barrel with lights, an Arabian market, an indoor mirror maze and audio messages from the fictional world of Jumanji.

The final section consists of a stone labyrinth with tropical planting, rockwork and a waterfall. That makes the addition more than an extra capacity point; it broadens the Jumanji theme inside Gardaland. Its location near Ristorante Aladino, between I Corsari and the Cinema 4D Experience, also turns it into a clear link within that part of the park. For guests, the accessibility matters: this is not a major ride system, but an adventurous route that families and groups can experience at their own pace. Within Merlin, the opening fits the wider rollout of Jumanji attractions across multiple parks.

The announcement of Jumanji - The Labyrinth showed how quickly Gardaland wanted to build on the success of its Jumanji partnership. In 2022 the Italian park had already opened Jumanji - The Adventure, a dark ride where guests travel through a jungle adventure in a jeep. Less than a year later, a second project was added: a maze planned for spring 2023 that would let visitors experience the world of Jumanji in a more physical, exploratory way.

For guests, this meant the film licence was not remaining a one-off novelty but becoming a thematic pillar within Gardaland. The park described it as an experience for groups of friends and families, while still revealing only limited details. That made the announcement more intriguing: this was not a conventional ride concept, but a walkthrough built around atmosphere, discovery and recognisable Jumanji tension. In the wider Merlin Entertainments context, the move also made sense. The group had signed an exclusive agreement with Sony Pictures to bring the Jumanji brand to several of its parks.
