More context
In September 2025, Looopings reported a serious workplace accident at Poseidon. A 31-year-old employee was carrying out maintenance on a platform about 20 metres high in the Greek themed area. According to the report, the attraction was apparently started too early, after which one of the worker’s safety straps got caught on a gondola. He was briefly dragged along, struck the gondola and eventually ended up back on the platform. A colleague activated the emergency stop and the injured worker was taken to hospital by helicopter. For visitors, the key fact is that Poseidon was closed to the public at the time. Initial findings, according to Looopings, did not point to negligence by third parties; the authorities asked an expert to reconstruct the incident. Europa-Park later said the employee was recovering. In the attraction’s history, this is a serious but relevant safety-related event, tied to the maintenance of a complex water coaster with height, moving boats and technical work areas.
