Danish park opens dinosaur area with new coaster and jeep safari
Djurs Sommerland opened Dinosaurland with T-Rex Family Coaster as its headline ride: a 400-metre powered coaster from Mack Rides. The expansion also added a jeep safari, playground and 25 lifelike dinosaurs to the Danish park.
More context
Djurs Sommerland opened Dinosaurland in spring 2022, a new themed area built around dinosaurs. It was a sizeable statement from the Danish park: guests were introduced to 25 lifelike dinosaurs and three new attractions. The Dutch Leisure Expert Group designed the area, continuing a long-running collaboration that had already shaped several major additions at Djurs Sommerland.
T-Rex Family Coaster was positioned as the area's headline ride. Looopings described it as a 400-metre powered coaster from Mack Rides, the same broad ride type as Max & Moritz at Efteling, De Draak at Plopsaland De Panne and Bob Express at Bobbejaanland. For Djurs Sommerland, the opening also meant adding an eighth roller coaster to the park's line-up.
Dinosaurland was not presented as a single coaster with scenery around it, but as a complete expedition zone. Alongside the coaster came Dino Xpedition, a jeep safari supplied by Metallbau Emmeln, and a dinosaur playground from Acacia-Robinia. Petro Art Production handled the rockwork, while MK Themed Attractions contributed other themed elements.
For visitors, T-Rex Family Coaster gave the new area an immediate family-thrill anchor. For enthusiasts, the appeal was in the package: a Mack-powered coaster at the centre of a themed land that Djurs Sommerland explicitly left room to expand in future years.
