English theme park opens two new rides in refreshed themed area
Chessington opened the refreshed Shipwreck Coast in July 2022 with two new rides, including Barrel Bail Out. The interactive water ride with spinning barrels was part of a 1-million-pound investment in the former Pirate's Cove area.

In July 2022, Chessington World of Adventures officially opened the refreshed Shipwreck Coast. The former Pirate's Cove had been reworked over the previous months and returned as a nautical themed area with four attractions. The main additions were Barrel Bail Out, an interactive water ride with spinning barrels and water guns, and Trawler Trouble, a rotating boat that had previously operated at sister park Thorpe Park as Timber Tug Boat.
For Barrel Bail Out, the opening immediately gave the ride a clear role within the area. It is not a major thrill ride, but a wet family attraction where riders actively join the harbour-side commotion. That fits Shipwreck Coast: a compact themed area built around movement, splashes and maritime detail rather than one headline coaster.
Looopings also placed the additions in a broader investment story. Chessington spent about 1 million pounds on the area, combining the two new Zamperla rides with the existing Blue Barnacle swing boat and the refurbished Seastorm. While the park was already working toward its much larger Jumanji coaster project, Shipwreck Coast gave families a more immediate reason to revisit this corner of the resort.
