The Royal Carousel

Royal Carousel is a classic Bertazzon carousel by The Towers, with horses, carriages and bold David Walliams theming.

Royal Carousel is the gentle spin ride in the area around The Towers. Children and families can choose between moving horses, rocking horses and carriages, which keeps the attraction comfortable for a wide range of ages and comfort levels. The carousel has been operating at Alton Towers since 1991 and was long known as Gallopers Carousel before receiving its regal look in the current family area.

Notes

TowersTimes lists Bertazzon, Carousel, an opening in 1991, rethemes on March 28, 2009 and May 17, 2021, 3.5 revolutions per minute, 36 riders per cycle, 450 riders per hour and a 2:00 ride time. TowersStreet also confirms the 1991 installation as Gallopers Carousel and the later Royal Carousel retheme. Because no exact opening day in 1991 could be verified with confidence, the opening date remains unset.

Theming

Its current form gives the former Gallopers Carousel a regal, colourful look that fits the surrounding family area.
