Wait times Universal Epic Universe, Blackpool: huge swings

Universal Epic Universe swung from calm to wild, Blackpool led the British waits, and Paultons Park quietly handed out tiny queues.

Wait times Universal Epic Universe, Blackpool: huge swings

Universal Epic Universe did that lovely wait-time chaos trick: Extra Hours began almost gentle, then by late afternoon Mario Kart was pushing 190 minutes after a 5-minute-looking start. That kind of curve is exactly why I keep staring at wait-time graphs longer than is probably healthy.

Epic Universe went from warm-up lap to full sprint

Universal Epic Universe was the park that kept pulling my eye back. During Extra Hours on 25 June 2026, selected guests had an extra hour in the park from 09:00 to 10:00, and the morning really did look friendly at first. But later on, the big headliners took over hard: Universal Epic Universe wait times averaged 48.6 minutes across the day, with Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge becoming the monster of the chart at an average of 107.24 minutes.

The funniest part, in a slightly painful theme-park-fan way, is that Epic Universe was not just one ride carrying the whole story. Mine-Cart Madness hovered around the serious end too, averaging 99.17 minutes, while Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry stayed close behind at 97 minutes. When three headline attractions all behave like that, you are not just picking a ride order anymore; you are basically choosing which queue you are willing to marry for the afternoon.

Hollywood Studios stayed spicy right to closing

Disney's Hollywood Studios had that classic busy-but-fascinating Disney rhythm: not totally out of control everywhere, but the big rides kept enough pressure on the day that you had to plan. Early Entry on 25 June 2026 gave eligible guests an extra half-hour from 08:30 to 09:00, which is exactly the kind of park moment where a good first choice can save you a lot of standing around later.

The park averaged 39.27 minutes, and the headline waits had plenty of bite. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets reached 120 minutes, Slinky Dog Dash hit 110, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance climbed to 95. What I really liked, though, was the closing-time clue: around the scheduled 22:00 close, several busy rides still had visible waits, including Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at 75 minutes and Slinky Dog Dash at 55. I would not call that extra park time, but for last-ride hunters at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it is a very useful little nudge.

EPCOT had a different kind of nerdy-good pattern. Early Entry was also active there on 25 June 2026, again giving eligible guests 08:30 to 09:00 before the regular rush settled in. The big surprise came later: the park’s busiest hour sat around 15:00 with an average of 112.5 minutes, while 17:00 looked suddenly much softer at just 1.67 minutes on average. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Test Track still did the heavy lifting, both spending the day in properly long-queue territory, so EPCOT wait times were a lovely reminder that one quiet-looking hour does not mean the whole park is easy.

Britain had one loud coaster story and one very calm gem

Blackpool Pleasure Beach was the British park that jumped out most clearly. The park averaged 22.22 minutes, which put it above the other UK names in this report, and Infusion appeared at 90 minutes in the snapshots we had. I would treat that specific Infusion number with a little care because it came from only a couple of sightings, but still: when a British seaside coaster pops up among the day’s longest waits, my queue-spotter brain absolutely notices.

Paultons Park, meanwhile, gave us the kind of calm window that makes you want to send a friend a very smug message. From 10:00 to 13:00 the average sat around 2.03 minutes, and from 14:00 to 16:00 it was still only 3.49 minutes, with the maximum staying at 5. That is not just “a bit quiet”; that is “why is everyone not here right now?” quiet. I love those little pockets, because they are the reason families who move at the right time can get a day that feels almost unfairly smooth.

Thorpe Park had a bumpier start for a few attractions. Stealth first appeared at 12:32 after a planned 10:00 start, while Ghost Train and Ready Player One 4D Experience both joined the day at 12:16. That does not ruin a Thorpe day by itself, but if Stealth is your must-do, I would have been checking before committing my morning route. Flamingo Land also had a neat closing-time detail: Mumbo Jumbo and Splash Battle still had small waits just after the 16:00 close, after Mumbo Jumbo had reached 90 earlier in the day.

A few American giants kept the pressure on

Knott's Berry Farm was less extreme than Epic Universe, but GhostRider once again behaved like the kind of wooden coaster that laughs at casual plans. The park averaged 29.85 minutes, while GhostRider climbed to 150 and averaged 82.24. Over at Universal Islands of Adventure, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure was its usual queue magnet too, averaging 92.41 and peaking at 180. No shock there, but still: every time Hagrid’s does this, it feels impressive all over again.

Disney California Adventure also had a very “save something good for the end” shape. Radiator Springs Racers reached 120 during the day, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! hit 90, and right around closing there were still waits visible for several popular rides. If you follow Disney California Adventure Park wait times, that late cluster is exactly the kind of thing worth remembering for a final lap.

Extra park time? Animal Kingdom and Volcano Bay deserve applause

Disney's Animal Kingdom quietly gave visitors a brilliant bonus. The park was scheduled to close at 18:00, but Avatar Flight of Passage still had qualifying waits as late as 19:58, so the park stayed active for almost two extra hours. Earlier in the day, Avatar Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids and Na'vi River Journey had all been busy enough to make that late movement feel genuinely useful. Honestly, fair play to Animal Kingdom: extra time near Pandora is never a bad gift.

Universal Volcano Bay also deserves a little cheer. The water park was scheduled to close at 17:00, yet Krakatau Aqua Coaster still had a 25-minute wait at 18:32. Earlier, Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides, Krakatau Aqua Coaster and Ko'okiri Body Plunge had all reached 55 minutes or more, so that extra stretch would have mattered to anyone trying to squeeze in one more slide before calling it a day.

One availability note before planning

A few US parks still had ongoing ride availability clusters through the full window, especially Dorney Park, Carowinds, Cedar Point, Great America and Hurricane Harbor Arlington. Because these same names have been hanging around for several days, I would not make them today’s main drama again, but I would absolutely check the current ride list before driving out if one specific attraction is the whole reason for your visit.

If I were planning from this set of waits, I would rope-drop Epic Universe with a very clear Mario Kart or Ministry plan, save some flexibility for Hollywood Studios closing time, and keep Paultons Park in mind as the happy UK curveball. For Thorpe Park, I would not gamble everything on Stealth first thing; I would check it, smile if it is open, and have a backup route ready.
